f) You need to prepare the manuscript according to the information and templates available for download below. The templates are very easy to be used and facilitate a lot the writing of the manuscripts according to the formatting requests. A list of the files of the Author's Kit are the following:

MS&T_Formatting.pdf (Formatting requirements)
MS&T_Orientation.pdf (Orientation)

MS&T.dot (Template in Word format)
MS&T_Word.pdf (Help file for the use of the template in Word format)

MS&T_Base.tex (template in latex format)
MS&T_Paper.tex (template in latex format)
MS&T_LaTeX.pdf (Help file for the use of the template in Latex format)

The 5 (five) files have to be download by clicking at the name of each file above. (PDF format is opened by Adobe Acrobat Reader, a free software that can be downloaded at http://www.adobe.com/acrobat/ ). You can download by clicking with the right mouse button to open it directly in your client software (no download bar visible) or with the right mouse button choosing "Save target as" in order to download it directly with a download bar visible.

Please review all this material prior to submitting your paper. The final acceptance of the manuscript will depend on

1) the scientific quality of your contribution
2) the respect of the formatting requests and the preparation guide
3) the submission deadline
4) quality of the language. Those authors whose English is not their primary language are strongly advised to correct their manuscript to an English speaking person. This would avoid the return of the paper for correction due to the quality of the language. This is not good for you as well as the editors.
5) obligatory oral presentation at the symposium by you or your co-author(s) or an assigned person.

For anything you need related to the scientific content of the manuscript, page limit, deadline, language etc. please contact the chair of the symposium Florian Kongoli at FKongoli@FLOGEN.COM or by phone and fax (Tel:+1-514-344-8786 ext.220/ Fax:+1-514-344-0361) which are also given at the end of this e-mail.

However if you have any technical question regarding the templates and formatting, please contact Stephen J. Kendall /Book Publishing Coordinator of TMS (Tel: 724-776-9000 ext. 219 Fax: 724-776-3770 E-mail: skendall@tms.org)

We have received a considerable number of abstracts and count on your timely and professional behavior in order make this symposium a high quality one.

Looking forward to meeting you in Chicago

Best Regards

AUTHORS’ COFFEE
(at the day of presentation)

Authors' coffee provides an important opportunity for authors and session chairs to meet and coordinate final details on the presentation of papers. All morning and afternoon authors and session chairs are strongly urged to attend authors' coffee on the morning of their presentation only. Authors' coffee will be tentatively held at 7:00am-8:20am each morning in the Convention Center. The exact room will be announced later.

PROJECTION EQUIPMENT AND ORAL PRESENTATIONS:

The standard equipment provided will be the following:

  • SVGA LCD PC projector
If choosing this equipment the authors need to bring with them a laptop (portable computer) and the session monitor will help to link it with the projector before the presentation. If using somebody’s else laptop the authors are strongly ADVISED to check their presentation in that laptop in advance to correct any possible problem that it is likely to occur because of different set of fonts available in each computer, the versions of software and other compatibility issues.
  • Overhead projectors
If authors choose this type of equipment they need to bring with them the transparencies sheets only.

If other equipment is needed (ex. 35 mm slide) please contact me by e-mail to YazawaSymp@FLOGEN.COM as soon as possible

It is recommended that authors prepare their own overheads, slides, computer presentations before arriving. Every attempt will be made to have student monitors available to offer assistance when needed. Copying, printing, faxing services will be provided by the Convention Center at a minimal cost to the attendee.
