ABSTRACT

The effect of accompanying minor oxides on the liquidus surface of FeOx-CaO-SiO2 system has been hitherto described only for iron saturation conditions. However, in order to correctly describe the oxidative copper smelting and iron ore sintering, information on this effect under intermediate oxygen potentials (log PO2 from -9 to -5 atm) is indispensable. The effect of Al2O3, MgO, and Cu2O on the liquidus of FeOx-CaO-SiO2 system are quantitatively described here by thermodynamic model calculations at intermediate oxygen potentials.
